Luke Doherty

Luke Doherty

Luke thought he was bound for a life under cricket's famous baggy green cap but unfortunately skill proved to be a downfall.

After many years with the Balmain club in Sydney and armed with the realisation that he wasn't going to make it as a cricketer he pursued a career that would let him be involved in sport on a daily basis.

He's a sportsnut who will watch anything that qualifies as a contest.

Nothing is exempt and holds the proud title of having a favourite team in almost every sporting league in the world.

His career has seen him work as a producer and reporter for Channel 7 and SBS and he joined SKY NEWS in 2006.

Highlights include being part of Channel 7's top rating breakfast show Sunrise and leading sport show Sportsworld.

Luke is married to his wife Aly who, not being a football fan previously, is now the proud owner of Liverpool and Socceroos jerseys thanks to his influence.

His sporting idols include Rugby League great Brad Fittler, AFL legend Tony Lockett, Footballer Steven Gerrard and cricketer David Boon.

Luke claims he's living his dream job and knows that even in his absence the Australian cricket team is in good hands.
